Welcome to the Desert Island Discs Group, a community for music lovers who enjoy sharing and discussing the soundtrack of their lives!
Inspired by the iconic radio program, our group invites members to imagine being stranded on a desert island with only a select few pieces of music to keep them company. In addition they can choose to take a piece of literature and an esential luxury item.
At each meeting we listen to eight to ten pieces of music selected by a member of our group. The pieces are particular favourites or have a special meaning to the person who selected them. We have group discussions about the pieces
selected and why they were selected. It’s amazing how diverse the choices have been, and it encourages members of the group to listen to old favourites and new pieces that previously had remained undiscovered.
Halfway through the meeting we have tea/coffee and light refreshments. What would your essential tracks be? Come share your "desert island discs" and discover the unforgettable power of music with us!
The group is full but there are often instances when members cannot attend, If you would like to join us, please contact me.
