With the dreadful weather we are experiencing, both Kevin and I are glad to be accompanied by the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics from 6 to 22 Feb 2026. I decided to find out more about the Winter Olympics Games.
The Winter Olympics Games began in 1924 in Chamonix, France and a total of 24 Winter Olympic Games have been held from 1924 through to 2022, across three continents ie Europe, Asia and North America, whereas the Summer Olympics started in1896.
In 1924, there were only 250 athletes from 16 countries competing in 16 events. This year there are around 3,000 athletes over 90 countries participating in the Winter Olympics.
Over the years, there are additions and removal of some events. Luge was first included in the Winter Olympics in 1964 at the Innsbruck Winter Olympics.
We all know drone technology has been used in the Olympics since 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. However, there has been an significant use of drones especially capturing real-time action on the luge track, to enhance the viewing experience this year, so that we can see the athletes’s skills and determination to compete in these events.
I recalled my trip back to Singapore last October enlightened me to the fact that most countries are now allowing passengers to travel without a physical passport. According to our friends there who travel frequently, due to work, they scan their iris to depart and arrive in the country, bypassing human contact or automated machine. If you drive to Malaysia from Singapore, you scan your passport at the automated machine, saving a lot of time queuing at the immigration office. It is frightening how modern technology is in such an advanced stage no matter whether you are going to accept or it not. So we have to open up our minds to learn with or without AI 😊 and make sure to use our brain to think, rather than ask AI to provide the answers for us.
That aside, please join us on Friday morning for an hour Stretch for a health session, which we usually warm up with gentle movement before further stretches using the chair or laying on the floor.
Please note there will be no (Exercise to music) Tuesday 24th Mar 2026
Also note there will be no (Stretch for health) class on Friday 20th Friday27th Mar 2026.

Do not worry if you have not done much stretches for a while, these stretches are gentle and easy to follow. Proper footwear required and wear loose, comfortable clothing and keep some water handy. Do these stretches at your own pace, especially if you have not attended this class before.
Remember that consistency is key, and small progress each time adds up to big results. Honestly, treat your body right and getting fit never felt so easy and fun.
